Photos from the Google Hangout with Kate Messner

Google Hangout with Kate Messner

Today the 3rd graders at JFK celebrated the National Day on Writing with Author Kate Messner.  We took part in a Live Google Hangout.  Kate Messner talked to us about her writing process, which was VERY similar to the process that we go through when we are writing.  She gave examples of how she has worked through her own stories.  Kate is the author of the historical fiction series Ranger in Time. Kate answered questions from students from around the county. It was a fabulous experience.  We have learned a great deal that we plan to bring back to our own writing.  Most students commented that they would like to have their own Writer's Notebook to carry with them wherever they go, not just in school.

As part of the planning for the broadcast we brainstormed ideas for future stories about a time traveling dog.  Our class came up with a number of creative and amazing story ideas, from the assassination  of JFK to the Blizzard of 1978!
