Battles of the Revolution
As part of our study of the American Revolution we broke into groups to teach each other about the different battles. The groups chose to make posters, act out and/or story tell.
MCAS Prep
Mrs. Murray and Mrs. Richards have begun getting us ready to take our very first MCAS tests. It's been a lot of fun learning how to use the different 'tools' on the Chromebooks.
They will both be visiting us over the next few weeks to talk about test taking strategies and practice. By the time the tests get here we will all be pros!

This Week in Room 5
Sharing our persuasive letters with each other
We have been working on being kind and respectful towards one another. One way to show this is by jotting down a quick note to share.
In Social Studies we have been learning about the beginnings of the American Revolution. Part of our study includes our book groups reading the Magic Tree House 'Revolutionary War on Wednesday'. We are also watching a couple of episodes of Liberty's Kids to reinforce the events that took place.
We are working on comparing fractions in math. On Friday we used fraction cards to compare and develop our own 'rules' to help us to compare fractions without the help of cards.

JFK Stamp Unveiling
Today a representative from the US Post Office officially unveiled the new JFK stamp with students at the Kennedy School. It was quite the experience!
Honor Flight New England
Today we learned about Honor Flight New England. It is an amazing program that brings veterans to Washington DC to honor them and to allow them the opportunity to visit the monuments. Below is a click highlighting this inspirational program.
Honor Flight New England
We wrote letters to be included in the "Mail Call" on the next flight from New England in the Spring. The students wrote some fabulous letters of appreciation that I'm sure will make our veterans smile.

Read Across America Day
We celebrated Dr. Suesses birthday by dressing as our favorite book character and gathering with the entire JFK community to listen to Mrs. Richards, Mrs. Murray and Mrs. Mac read Mc Elligot's Pool. Then we listened to the 5th grade sing a song from Suessical the Musical. What a great day we had celebrating Reading!
