This Week in Room 5

Another very productive week in Room 5. 

We started writing our All About expert pieces. 

Mrs. Murray, our Math Specialist, came in to work with us on a Calculate and Contemplate lesson. The students did a fabulous job persevering through the problem and explaining their thinking.

 

 

 

 

 

Cardboard Box Challenge

This Week the students showed perseverance, collaboration and amazing problem solving skills while creating their cardboard creations. We had arcade games, a pet shop, robot costumes, a birthday cake, a cow, a plane, a laptop and more! We were so impressed. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This Week in Room 5

We had a busy week in Room 5. It started with our Vocabulary Parade on Monday. 

We had our Publishing Party where we shared our Personal Narratives with each other. 

We continued our work with Informational  text and finding the main idea. 

In Math we worked on writing and solving division stories. Everyone is working hard and doing a fabulous job. I am so very proud of them.

Next Week we will be taking part in our cardboard challenge. Thank you for sending in boxes. Donations of masking tape would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Plimoth Plantation

We enjoyed a perfect day exploring Plimoth Plantation on Friday. Thank you to the PCC, the chaperones and the parents we joined us. Official Goose Chase scores will be revealed on Monday...

This Week in Room 5

We had a fabulous first week of October in Room 5. 

In Writer's Workshop we made some hands-on revisions to our Personal Narratives by cutting and taping :

 

We worked on our first Google Classroom assignment in Reader's Workshop. After reading an article about football safety and watching a video clip on the topic, students wrote a mock letter to the New England Patriots explaining why football needs to be safer for players. 

In Math we continue to work on using patterns to help us multiply. Here some of the students are explaining their thinking when solving problems . 

 

We ended the week with a fun-filled Open House. It was so great to see the students sharing their classroom with their families. They are so very proud of all of their hard work. Thank you for joining us.

On Friday, November 4th we will be going to Plymouth Planation. Field trip forms went out on Friday. Please send them back to school by Friday, October 14th.
