Spring is finally here!!! It's great to be able to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and our fabulous playground again. In class we have been very busy finishing up a unit on Poetry. The children have written numerous poems that they have compilied in to books. We will be celebrating and sharing our poems with each other soon.
In Math we are completing a unit on Fractions and Line Plots and are moving along to Bar Graphs, Pictographs and Capacity. In the next few weeks we will also be preparing for the Math MCAS tests that will be given to our third graders on May 6th and 7th.
Our interactive read aloud book is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. It's such a fabulous book for visualization and character trait study. The students are working in pairs or in one case, a triple to read Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling. As the back of the book reads :"Everything King Midas touched turned to gold. John Midas had... The Chocolate Touch!" This is another fun and engaging story.
This week invitations were sent home for our annual Wax Museum along with a checklist to help the students along with completing their projects. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to seeing you all on April 30th at 9 am :)
